The inaugural Fontaine patch, designated as Version 4.0, introduces a pair of fresh Fontaine characters as well as some recognizable figures. The spotlight shines on two five-star characters: Lyney, proficient in the Pyro bow usage, and Yelan, skilled with Hydro bows.
Additionally, accompanying them are Lynette (an Anemo sword user), Barbara (a Hydro catalyst wielder and healer), and Bennett (a 4-star Pyro sword user). However, just this one time, this article would be focused on the new characters and their abilities.
1) Lyney
Hailing from Fontaine as the first 5 star character, Lyney is a Pyro bow user who was featured on the Conjuring Chiaroscuro banner. As every traveller playing Genshin would be familiar with, the right ascension materials and artifacts need to be farmed in order to enable the character to reach their full potential. These materials can be found around Teyvat. As most of the materials can be found in Fontaine itself, the rest can be procured from elsewhere.
It is suggested to build him as a Pyro DPS, using the Marechaussee Hunter artifact (which I may add, is tailored made for this guy) or the second-best Wanderers troupe. The recommended stat priority is ATK, CRIT Rate/DMG, Pyro damage and Elementary Mastery. As for the weapon of choice, a First Great Magic is the preferred weapon.
2) Yelan
Yelan is a playable Hydro character, though major details about her background and overall roles in the game are unknown.
In the case of Yelan, it is preferable to use her as the main DPS, and pair her with the Aqua Simulacra. If the weapon banner betrays you (as is the story with every other gacha game) fear not! The Polar Star and the Thundering Pulse are also great replacements. The best artifacts that can be paired with Yelan are the Heart of Depth and Tenacity of the Millelith.
For stats, HP, Crit Rate and Hydro DMG Bonus would work wonders. This build would help in enhancing her skills, burst and the charged attack.
3) Lynette
A 4-star Anemo character, she is the twin sister of Lyney and naturally, also hails from Fontaine. Lynette's Normal Attack empowers her to strike up to four times, while her Charge Attack enables her to perform two swift attacks. Her Elemental Skill, Enigmatic Feint, empowers Lynette to execute an Enigma Thrust, inflicting Anemo damage upon an enemy with ease.
However, this action also rejuvenates Lynette's health, but subsequently results in a gradual decrease in her HP.
The best weapon to equip her with would be the Aquila Favonia, but the Skyward Blade is also a good alternative in case (quick rewind to the gacha rant). The most favorable artifacts for her would be the 4 piece Gilded Dreams,
However, if you want to maximize her Elemental Burst, it’s best to go for the Nobelesse Oblige. For mains stats, ATK, Anemo DMG Bonus and Crit DMG would be sufficient.
Hopefully you would get a brief idea on how to work around your new guests in the game through this, but sincere dedication and patience is key to farm for the best artifacts. So travellers, we wish you the best of luck on your builds, and happy farm
