Sony has just made some major announcements regarding its first-party PlayStation exclusive games in the last couple of hours. The highlight of the new information is likely that Sony plans to bring more PlayStation exclusive games to the PC. Sony CEO and President Jim Ryan revealed that the company will bring Days Gone to PC in the spring season. For some context, the spring season starts on March 20 and will go on till June 21. So, technically, the game is just months, if not weeks away from launch. In addition, the company also shared some new information around Gran Turismo 7, and Ratchet & Clank from 2016. Let’s check everything new that we know about Sony PlayStation video games here.

Sony PlayStation games coming to PC starting with Days Gone, details

Looking at the details around the launch of Days Gone on the PC, Jim Ryan shared this in an interview with British GQ. Right after the reveal, Bend Studio, the developer behind the game confirmed this on their Twitter account. The game developer has already listed the title on Steam and Epic Games Store. It is worth noting that Days Gone is not the first Sony PlayStation game to land on the PC. We saw Horizon Zero Dawn land on the PC back in August 2020. As part of the conversation, Ryan outlined the reasons behind this shift in stance towards PlayStation titles. He noted that the games that Sony development studios make are “in better shape” than ever before. This increase in the quality of games makes it easy for Sony to try and push the games “to a wider audience”.

In addition, Ryan also outlined the increasing cost of game development along with the corresponding quality “each cycle”. Finally, porting PlayStation video games to the PC is considerably easy than in the past. Finally, Ryan indicated that Days Gone is just one of the many PlayStation titles coming to the PC.

Gran Turismo 7 Delayed and PS4 owners to get Ratchet & Clank for free

Beyond the information around Days Gone, Ryan also shared some information about Gran Turismo 7. He noted that Sony is delaying the launch of the game to 2022 due to COVID-19 related production challenges. Initially, the launch date for the game was set sometime later this year. The company will share more information around the new launch date when it is “available”. It is worth noting that Gran Turismo 7 is not the first game to delay its release. In the past couple of weeks, several games like the Amazon MMO, Hogwarts Legacy from Warner Bros, and a new Vampire game from Paradox have faced delays. Sony initially announced Gran Turismo 7 in the PS5 reveal event back in June 2020.

Finally, the company also announced that it is bringing its “Play At Home” program where it will offer “select games and entertainment for free”. As part of the program, Sony is offering Ratchet & Clank from 2016 for free for all PlayStation 4 and 5 users in March 2021. It is worth noting that players do not need to subscribe to PlayStation Plus. The game is yours to keep once you redeem the title. In addition to this, Funimation and Wakanime will offer “extended access” to new subscribers in select markets. However, India is not one of the supported markets that comes under this offer.
