Republic of Gamers (ROG), the gaming hardware division of Taiwanese computer giant Asus has just shared a new announcement. As part of the announcement, the company unveiled its new program aimed at gamers called ROG Academy. It is a virtual program where Asus will train, nurture and support gamers interested in becoming professional eSports athletes. The program will help interested, aspiring athletes to become sharper and more skilled to compete on the international level. As part of the announcement, Asus also shared the timeline of ROG Academy along with the time commitment, curriculum, rewards, and more. The company outlined that the Asus ROG Academy is a year-long program meant to mentor the selected gamers. Asus has divided the program in such a manner that it can hold four sessions during the year. Interested players can head to the official website to register for the program. Asus will select six players for every three-month program. Each player will go through “an extensive selection process” on their journey to secure one of the six spots. The application in the registration process also includes a detailed QnA form so that the selection jury can evaluate players in a better manner.

ROG Academy will focus on (Counter-Strike: Global Offensive) CS: GO for the first year. Looking at the course, the program will include specialized modules on teamwork, communication, and several advanced aspects of CS: GO. These advanced aspects include specific modes like Bombsite, scrims, and more. Asus outlined some advanced information regarding the academy including the time that selected players need to invest in practice. The program will include two, three-hour training sessions every day from Monday to Friday. 

Asus has re-emphasized that the long term aim of the program is to create more skilled eSports players in India. It will provide top of the line hardware to selected players during the length of the session. The players will get Rs. 15,0000 as monthly compensation. In addition, Asus will also pay Rs. 1 lakh as an Ex-Gratia amount after the players complete their training. These players will represent Asus ROG for a period of six months, three during and three after their training concludes. Finally, the registration for Asus ROG Academy is open till Feb 10, 2020. Interested players just need to be 16 or older in age. However, players between 16-18 need a consent letter from their parents or legal guardian to take part in the event.
