Steam: How to avoid buying games available on Xbox Game Pass, Ubisoft+, EA Play
The extension ensures that you are not spending on games that are already available for free on game subscription services. Let’s check out everything we know about the “Subscription Info on Steam” here.
Steam, one of the largest video game distribution platforms is currently holding its annual Winter Sale. This sale offers impressive discounts on thousands of games across all categories. We have highlighted some of the more impressive deals available in the Steam Winter Sale 2020. It has also shared its “Best of 2020” lists to help interested buyers with the list of best games from 2020. In addition to steam, other platforms like Epic Games Store, Xbox Store, and PlayStation Store are also offering some discounts.
Considering there are multiple game distribution and subscription services, it can be a bit difficult to keep track of the games. There are tools like GOG Galaxy from GOG that can connect to and manage your game libraries at the same place. However, it is still not the best place to keep track of things while making purchases. One must manually search the games that are already in their library in GOG Galaxy before confirming the purchases. In addition, though the discounts are impressive, it is always best to try and manage spending in the first place. In an effort to do that, we came across a new browser extension that helps manage the spending on Steam.
The “alike03’s Subscription Info on Steam” extension does not outline the deals available or apply discount codes. Instead, it ensures that you are not spending on games that are already available for free on game subscription services. The extension works with multiple subscription services including Microsoft Xbox Game Pass, Ubisoft+, EA Play. Let’s check out everything we know about the “Subscription Info on Steam” including how it works.
Subscription Info on Steam extension: Here is how it works
The extension does not take any data from the subscription services that you are using. Instead, it just shows a badge on the video game listing page on Steam. As soon as you visit the page, you will see if the game is already available on any subscription service. As mentioned, currently it can show if the game is available on Xbox Game Pass, Ubisoft+, or EA Play. This helps you decide if you want to make the purchase in case you are already subscribed to these services.
Talking about Xbox Game Pass support, the extension can also show the titles that are coming to the subscription service or recently left. So, it does not really stop you from making the purchases. However, it is already better to save money on purchases if you already have access to the game from your subscriptions. The issue is that this only works on web browsers. This extension currently supports Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and other Chrome-based browsers like the new Microsoft Edge.
