Sony PlayStation: List of 10 free games for Play at Home 2021 revealed along with next-gen VR controller for PS5
The 2021 edition of the Play at Home program is the second time the company is giving away games for free. Here is the complete list of free PlayStation games for the program along with details about the next-gen PS VR controller for PS5.
Sony has just revealed a list of 10 free video game titles that it will offer PlayStation owners this spring. These free titles will be part of its Play at Home 2021 program that the company revealed last year. The 2021 edition of the program is the second time the company is giving away games for free. Sony started this program earlier this month with a free copy of Ratchet & Clank from 2016. Though this game is meant for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 series owners can also play this title with backward compatibility.
PlayStation owners can claim the free digital copy of Ratchet & Clank until April 1, at 8:30 AM (IST). In addition to the list, the company also revealed the design of its next-gen VR controller for the PS5. In addition, the company also shared some information about the features of the controller. Sony PlayStation Play at Home 2021 program list of free games out
The company revealed that it is set to release the next set of free games on March 25. PlayStation owners can get these free games along with the “extended trial offer for Funimation) in select countries. This list starts with Abzû, an underwater adventure from the developers of games like Journey, Flower, and The Pathless. It continues with the Enter the Gungeon, Rez Infinite, Subnautica, The Witness, and Astro Bot Rescue Mission. PlayStation owners also get Moss, Thumper, and Paper Beast as part of the program.
This mix of PS4 and PS VR titles will be available from March 25 till April 22 for free. PlayStation owners in India should note that as per local time, the titles will be available from March 26, 8:30 AM till April 23, 8:30 AM. As stated above, PlayStation owners in select countries can also get an extended trial of Funimation or Wakanim till April 22. In addition to these, Sony also revealed that it is offering a free copy of Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition between April 19 and May 14.
Next-gen PlayStation VR controller design and features for PS5
The console maker also shared details around the next-gen VR controller aimed for the latest lineup, the PlayStation 5 series. This information regarding the design and features comes just weeks after Sony revealed that it was working on next-gen VR. The company claims that the next-gen VR controller will help gamers achieve “a much deeper sense of presence and a stronger feeling of immersion in VR experiences”. Sony crafted the VR controllers upon the innovation that it first introduced with DualSense wireless controller. This likely means that the next-gen VR controllers will feature adaptive triggers and advanced haptic technology.
Inspecting the design, the upcoming VR controllers come in an “orb” shape offering a natural grip to users. This also ensures that players can move their hands without any limitations or hindrance. Sony tested the design with “a range of hand sizes” along with its learning from decades of controller designs. Moving to the features, the next-gen PS VR controllers for PS5 will feature adaptive triggers line the DualSense controller. It will also feature haptic feedback and finger touch detection. Besides, Sony also outlined tracking technology, along with action buttons and analog sticks for finer controls.
