Silent Hill: Here are all the announcements from Konami including new games, remake and more

Konami has finally decided to revive the iconic horror game franchise which lay dormant for a decade.

Konami premiered the Silent Hill announcement live stream on Wednesday. The company has finally decided to revive the iconic horror game franchise which has been dormant for a decade. A total of 3 Silent Hill games have been announced. Silent Hill: Townfall and Silent Hill f will be the new Silent Hill games and a remake of Silent Hill 2 will be released. There was also a movie sequel announced as well as an "interactive video streaming experience". Here are all the Silent Hill game announcements from Konami.

Silent Hill 2 remake

Silent Hill 2 remake was finally confirmed during the live stream after months of reports and rumours. Bloober Team is indeed developing the remake of the horror game. Layers Of Fear makers have managed to greatly improve upon the visuals, compared to the original Silent Hill 2 from 2001. Silent Hill 2 remake has been made on Unreal Engine 5 and will be a PlayStation 5 console exclusive. However, it will also be arriving on PC.

Silent Hill: Townfall

Silent Hill: Townfall is one of the two new Silent Hill games announced by Konami. Annapurna Interactive is publishing Silent Hill: Townfall and it will be developed by No Code, the team behind Stories Untold and Observation. Silent Hill: Townfall’s trailer depicts a mysterious and uneasy tone throughout it. Check out the trailer below.

Silent Hill f

Silent Hill f is the second new Silent Hill game announced. Set in 1960s, the trailer showed a young Japanese schoolgirl walking as if she’s possessed and soon enters a different world altogether. With plants growing on her skin, the trailer ended with her face peeling off. There was no gameplay footage revealed but it was revealed that the game will be set in 1960’s Japan. Silent Hill f will be developed by NeoBards Entertainment who have co-developed several Resident Evil remakes.

Silent Hill: Ascension

Silent Hill: Ascension, developed by Genvid, JJ Abrams' Bad Robot, and Dead By Daylight developers Behaviour Interactive, was described by Konami as “a new kind of Silent Hill”. It has been termed as an interactive live stream experience where viewers will influence the progress of this horror game’s story. There’s apparently not much more information released but fans can check out the trailer for it below.

Return To Silent Hill

Return to Silent Hill will serve as the sequel to the Silent Hill movie from 2006. Director Christophe Gans has returned for this upcoming movie and in the reveal trailer, we heard from him and Producer Victor Hadida as the duo hyped-up Return To Silent Hill. Both talked about what makes Silent Hill special and in particular Silent Hill 2, which will serve as the plot for this movie.

Konami has officially brought back the Silent Hill franchise back from the dead and it'll be interesting to see how this pans out. A remake, two new games, a movie sequel and an interactive horror experience shows that Silent Hill is a franchise that will once again look to expand through the transmedia approach. The Silent Hill movie from 2006 didn't do particularly well but maybe Konami is inspired by the likes of Cyberpunk Edgerunners' success and the anticipation for The Last Of Us TV series.
