PUBG Corp and its parent company Krafton have just made a major announcement regarding PUBG Mobile. As per the announcement, the South Korean company is bringing back PUBG Mobile to India. The company also stated that it is working on “PUBG Mobile India” a new version of the game. As the name suggests, this version of the game is only limited to the Indian market. Krafton noted that it is aiming at providing a “secure and healthy gameplay environment” to Indian players. In addition, the company also shared plans about investment in the Indian video game, eSports, entertainment, and IT industries. PUBG Mobile India, a special version of the Battle Royale game announced
According to the announcement, the company reiterated its focus on privacy and security of the player data. This announcement comes just weeks after the company announced that it was teaming up with Microsoft Azure. As previously noted, Microsoft Azure will host all Krafton games across the globe. In addition, Azure will also ensure that Krafton games follow all the local data privacy requirements specific to the markets. Krafton stated that it will “conduct regular audits and verification on the storage systems” that will store the data of Indian players. It will also continue to reinforce the security and safety of the stored data.
This new version of the game will come with many changes aimed at the Indian market. Some of these changes include the game taking place in a “virtual simulation training ground” and all-new characters are clothed at the start. This version will also come with green hit effects to outline the virtual nature of the game. In addition, the company also outlined features that will place restrictions of the game time to encourage healthy habits. The company will share the launch date of the game “at a later date”.
PUBG Corp is also creating its Indian subsidiary with plans to hire more than 100 employees. These employees will focus on the business, eSports, and gaming development in the Indian market. The local office will improve communication between the company and the players. Beyond this, the company also plans to “actively collaborate and leverage local businesses” to improve its service in India. Finally, Krafton also plans to make about $100 million investment in India to promote the video games, eSports, entertainment, and IT industries. Krafton will also host India-exclusive eSports tournaments in India with “largest prize pools” and productions.
