Olympic ESports Games: A New Opportunity For India!

India is set to capitalize on the global spotlight with the inaugural Olympic eSports Games, hosted in partnership with Saudi Arabia. Abhishek Issar highlights how this move could revolutionize eSports and boost India's prominence on the world stage.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has partnered with the National Olympic Committee of Saudi Arabia to host the inaugural edition of the Olympic eSports Games. The move is aimed at promoting esports globally.
Abhishek Issar, Founder of UNIV Sportatech and Founding Member of FEAI (Federation of eSports Associations India), said, “Today, every country will look at eSports as an opportunity to win Olympic medals – it is a game changer for the industry.”

As India looks to have a strong performance at the Paris Olympics, our appetite for growth in this sector matches the country’s highly influential geo-economic position in the world. The number of players in the eSports category is expected to grow fourfold from 150,000 to 600,000 between 2021 and 2022 and future projections predict this number to reach 15,00,000 by the end of 2027.

Hosting the Olympic eSports Games will provide a huge opportunity for India. It will not only help promote eSports in the country but will also give India's eSports players a chance to compete against the best players in the world. Esports is growing rapidly in India and there are many talented eSports players in the country. Participation in the Olympic eSports Games will give India's eSports players global recognition and will further accelerate the growth of India's eSports industry.

The Indian government is also taking several steps to promote eSports. Recently, the Indian government has recognized eSports as a sport. This is an important move as it will give esports a more mainstream status in India and the government will be able to allocate more resources to promote esports.

Hosting the Olympic esports games can open a new chapter for India. It will not only accelerate the growth of India's esports industry but will also help India gain a prominent position on the global esports stage.
