Nvidia: Game Ready Driver update brings optimizations for Outriders, Reflex support for Rainbow Six Siege, more
Other changes include optimizations for DIRT 5, KINGDOM HEARTS series, and GeForce Experience “Optimal Game Settings” for new games. Here are all the details about the new Nvidia Game Ready Driver update.
Nvidia has just released a new Game Ready Driver for its GPUs with several new additions, fixes, and more. As part of the driver launch, the company also shared the details about all these new additions in a post. These additions include optimizations for Outriders, the latest AAA video game title to land in the market. This update also brings Nvidia Reflex support to Rainbow Six Siege after weeks of testing. Nvidia also released the Resizable BAR support for all its GeForce RTX 3000 series desktop GPUs. Other changes include optimizations for DIRT 5, KINGDOM HEARTS series, support for Windows Virtual Machine, and GeForce Experience “Optimal Game Settings” for new games. Here are all the details about the new Nvidia Game Ready Driver update including new features, and optimizations.
Nvidia Game Ready Driver brings DLSS support for Outriders and more
As noted above, the highlight of the update is the performance optimizations and DLSS support for Outriders. This comes just hours before the release of the game so that players can experience these improvements on the launch day. In addition, the company also rolled out Nvidia Reflex support for Rainbow Six Siege to improve responsiveness and reduce latency. It claims that users can experience “up to 30%” reduced system latency and provide a likely “split-second” advantage.
Nvidia has already rolled out Reflex support to multiple titles including Call of Duty, Overwatch, Valorant, Apex Legends, and more. The company also brought fixes and improvements for the new ray-tracing update that launched for DIRT 5. Beyond this, it also includes support for the release of Evil Genius 2: World Domination, and the KINGDOM HEARTS series.
Resizable BAR and Windows Virtual Machine Beta support
The second significant element of this Game Ready Driver update is likely the roll-out of Resizable BAR support. This new feature is currently limited to the latest GeForce RTX 3000 series desktop GPUs. The list of supported GPUs includes RTX 3060 Ti, 3070, 3080, and 3090. Getting into the detail of how this works, Nvidia noted that Resizable BAR uses an advanced PCI Express feature. It also claims that the feature can offer a performance increase “by up to 12 percent” in select games.
One should note that the Resizable BAR support also requires a VBIOS update for their GeForce RTX 3000 series desktop GPU. Besides this, users with compatible motherboards and CPUs may also need to enable the Resizable BAR support in the BIOS. The list of compatible CPUs includes AMD Ryzen 5000 series, along with 10th and 11th-Gen Intel CPUs. Supported Motherboards include AMD 400 series, 500 series, Z40, H470, B460, H410, and all Intel 11th-Gen compatible chipsets.
Nvidia also rolled out support for Windows Virtual Machine support in Beta state. This means that Linux users can enable Nvidia GeForce GPU passthrough on Windows Virtual Machine to run Windows-only games. Developers can also use this to test Windows and Linux code on the same machine with this new feature. Currently, this feature is available on all Nvidia GeForce or TITAN (Kepler and above for desktops, Maxwell, and later for laptops). However, users do need Windows 10 for this feature to work. Finally, the company also added support for new G-Sync compatible cards and released “Optimal Game Settings” for new games as part of its GeForce Experience.
