Mass Effect N7 Day celebration: BioWare reveals new Mass Effect game footage

“For now, there is something we want you to have a look at.'

EA and BioWare are celebrating almost 15 years of the Mass Effect series on N7 Day. Keeping up with the tradition, BioWare is celebrating N7 day and has revealed cross-over content between The Sims 4 and Mass Effect. The Mass Effect-themed content will be free for everyone and releases on November 17. BioWare has published a blog in celebration of Mass Effect N7 day and also reflected on the ongoing sale for Mass Effect Legendary Edition on Steam and EA app.

As for the upcoming Mass Effect game, the blog reads that there will be news shared "when we're ready". However, Mike Gamble, Project Director for the next Mass Effect game, set up the stage for an interesting reveal at the end of the blog. Check out the video below.

What is N7 day?

For those unfamiliar, N7 is a day chosen by fans of Mass Effect to celebrate their favourite game series. It’s similar to how Star Wars fans have turned May 4th into Star Wars day and how it builds up hope and excitement every year for some interesting Star Wars reveals to look forward to. November 7th has been chosen by Mass Effect. ‘N’ stands for the special forces in the Systems Alliance military while ‘7’ is the highest level within the force. Commander Shepard, the protagonist of the original Mass Effect trilogy, is one of the N7s in Mass Effect’s universe. There are only seven known N7s so far.

Mass Effect and The Sims 4

Back to the N7 day celebration, BioWare and Maxis are introducing Mass Effect-themed items in The Sims 4. These wearable items will be arriving to The Sims 4 on November 17. They’ll be available for free for everyone. The Sims 4 recently went free-to-play across all platforms on October 18.

If you’re looking to enter the world of Mass Effect, now’s the time to do so. There’s a sale running for Mass Effect Legendary Edition on PC on Steam and EA app. If you’ve got EA Play, then you can play Mass Effect Legendary Edition for free.

Update on the next Mass Effect game

“One day, when we’re ready, we’ll have more to share on the next Mass Effect, so thank you for being a part of this journey with us,” said the Mass Effect blog. While that sounds like it’ll be a while before we have more news to offer about the next Mass Effect game, the statement from Mike Gamble reflected otherwise.

Mike Gamble is the Project Director of the next Mass Effect game. He said, “In the nearly 15 years since the release of the first Mass Effect, the biggest reason we still love working on it is the warmth, dedication, and passion of this community. There are some of you who have been with us through everything.”

He added, “Regardless of when you joined us, through four games and more expansions, I can say with certainty that we’re in this because of you, and every N7 Day is a wonderful reminder of that. As we look forward, each week is a fun and exciting challenge for the team. We love bringing this universe to life, and although there’s much more we want to share with you, that’ll have to be for another time.”

The blog ended on a high note indeed as Mike Gamble ended his statement by saying, “For now, there is something we want you to have a look at. We’ve intercepted some strange footage from one of the monitoring stations in known space. It could be nothing, but…”
