We have just kick-started a new interview series called 1v1 where India Today Gaming will sit down with prominent personalities from the video game industry for a conversation. In addition to the video game industry, we will also talk to all the relevant stakeholders in the technology space in India. 1v1 with India Today Gaming is meant to be a platform for the industry to directly communicate with gamers out there. For the first interview as part of the series, we sat down for a virtual conversation with Vivek Raina, the CEO and Co-Founder for Excitel India, an Internet Service Provider (ISP) focused on offering Fiber To The Home (FTTH) services.

Vivek Raina has previously worked with Hathway Broadband and Reliance Infocom. He has done his MBA from the University of Pune and the cumulative experience in working with ISPs has helped him in launching Excitel. Before COVID-19, the company was planning to bring its FTTH services to about 100 cities before the end of 2020. However, the pandemic and the lockdown pushed the company to its limits. The company took no time and bounced back to address the increasing demand for the internet in a world where everyone was working from home.

During our conversation, we started with how COVID-19 impacted the business for the ISP. In addition, Vivek also outlined how the customers found a newfound appreciation for hard-line, wired internet. Beyond this, we also spoke about expansion plans for Excitel, gaming-focused plans, Gigabit speeds, cloud gaming, and more. Raina also shared his view of upcoming trends in the gaming industry along with how Excitel can help the video games industry in the coming years.
