India Today Gaming: 1v1 with Rajen Vagadia, VP and President, Qualcomm India

We are back with another iteration of the interview series, 1v1 with India Today Gaming. This time, we sat down with Rajen Vagadia, the Vice President for Qualcomm India, and President for Qualcomm India & SAARC. As part of the conversation, we talked about Qualcomm India and its move to enter the eSports market in India. Vagadia has been part of several high-profile technology giants in the past including Motorola, Reliance Infocomm, and more. He has also been part of companies including Tata, and Elcoteq at notable positions.
As part of the conversation, we talked about Qualcomm Snapdragon Conquest Tournament, which took place back in December 2020. We also talked about its future plans regarding future eSports events and how it plans to nurture the eSports ecosystem. Qualcomm also shared information on the smartphone gaming segment that it wants to focus on. Unlike the PC eSports segment which requires top of the line hardware, Qualcomm wants to involve the casual gamers in the mix. One can check the complete interview here.
In addition, the company re-emphasized the work it has done in developing new hardware and software technologies to help gamers. The company outlined the Game Quick Touch and Variable Rate Sharing technologies that launched with Snapdragon 888 as part of the Snapdragon Elite Gaming suite. We also talked about how the Indian eSports segment is different and how Qualcomm is taking things slow in the beginning. The company noted that it will have more to share with time for future eSports events. However, at the time, it is keeping its cards undisclosed regarding future events and collaborations.
