5 Best Methods to Get Leather in Minecraft: Mob Loot, Bartering, and More

1)    Mob Loot 

Experience such mobs if you wander in the grass hills of the Overworld biomes; in the mushroom island biome you get mooshrooms; in the crimson forest of the Nether you come across hoglins, and cows, donkeys, horses, and llamas are also placed there. Mules don’t spawn naturally. 

Thus it is very easy to get a pile of leather quite rapidly I might add. One more positive effect connected with the application of this method is that you can breed and multiply all these mobs, so you can go on your killing and collecting lots of leather in your base every now and then.

2)    Bartering with piglins

Sometime after a few seconds the piglin will drop an item that could be 2-4 leather. This is a good source of the item because you can automate it and you will be able to get a lot of leather. Fortunately, it is also relatively simple to know how to trade with to get started with trading with piglins.

3)    Loot chests 

This method of getting leather in Minecraft is not so good if one needs the item in a bulk. But if you want a small piece of leather and you’ve been close to a Minecraft village or a bastion, then you’re in luck. 

Chests in tanner houses of the villages and in bridge and hoglin stable bastion remnant structures can contain 1-3 leather. There is no better time than now to look for them and if you are blessed the chance and you will indeed get some leather in Minecraft.

4)     Villagers Gifts 

Maybe you already know for Java edition – if you get status effect called Hero of the Village, villagers will throw items towards you, associated with their profession. Thus, one of the ways of obtaining leather in Minecraft is to have Leatherworker villagers to throw leather at you. You can have a bunch of them in your village and once in a while some of them will shower you with leather.

5)     Fishing 

Fishing is the worst way of getting leather in Minecraft. This is a junk item and by your default the probability of this item is 1 percent only. Because it is junk category item, you have to avoid selecting a small area as big area but a very very small area so that no way of coming across treasure items. 

Also, ensure that fishing rod you are using should not have luck of the sea enchantment in it. Therefore, if you are that desperate or possibly assigned to a challenging task, it is better for you to go fishing and expect the results that will come your way.
